Alice Zoo is a photographer and writer based in London. She is interested in contemporary rituals and the ways that people find meaning through connection to place, community, and the body.
Her work has been commissioned by publications including National Geographic, The New York Times, and The New Yorker, and has been exhibited internationally: in the Magenta Foundation Flash Forward 2016, the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize exhibition in 2018 & 2023, the Royal Photographic Society International Photography Exhibition in 2018 & 2019, the Creative Review Photography Annual in 2019 & 2021, and Photo Vogue Festival in 2020.
She has written extensively on photography in print and online for publications including British Journal of Photography, Elephant, FT Weekend, Granta, and Magnum, as well as exhibition texts for venues including Royal Photographic Society and Large Glass, and for various artist monographs. She has given lectures on photography at venues such as Tate Modern, MK Gallery, and universities across the UK, as well as moderating panel talks for British Journal of Photography collaborations with Adidas and Mother London.
She writes a photography newsletter called INTERLOPER, recommended as one of the 25 best arts and culture newsletters by The Guardian in 2023.
She is available for both photographic and writing commissions, or a combination of the two, in the UK and worldwide.
